A man once said to the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), “A man loves a group of people, yet cannot catch up with them.” He replied: “A man shall be with whomever he loves”. What a beautiful reply it was! Why? Because it focused the questioner's attention from the weaknesses of his works to the august rank of love. For at the very core of the Allah’s message is the command for a harmonizing of hearts through love.
This hadith teaches you that no matter how gloomy you may think your state is, if you keep loving others, especially those whom Allah loves, then it will suffice you for being in their eternal company. What a wonderful promise it is indeed!
So rejoice in your love of Allah, His Messengers, His angels, and the pious, and let this beautiful piece of art (by the Iraqi calligraphy master Muthana) be a reminder for you of the glad tidings of being in the company of whom you love in this life and the next.
